Spring Update April 2009

Volume 14 Issue 1 First Quarter 2009

Wagner Assembly of God was established in 1935. Over the years, it has been blessed with loving, caring & especially anointed pastors.

The following pastoral information was gathered from the SD District Office. From present to the first pastor information we could find are as follows:

Tim & Elaine Harris /  Vern & Donna Chopper / Dennis & Martha Preston / John Stephens / Tim Shamala / Vern Donnell / Glenn Haroldson / Richard Chaney / Scott McNee / Terry Allen / Lee Drews / Doug King / Carol Norris / Norman Rehwinkel / Merle Martin / Sylvan Turner / Edward & Verna Stroh, Verna Stroh is living in Sioux Falls and it is our hope to set up a time to visit with her to learn ''more'' of the history of the church and how God came to birth it here in Wagner.

This is the history from present when God called us here to fulltime ministry with the Dakota Sioux of the Yankton Sioux Tribe:

In the Summer of 2008 Pastor Vern Chopper resigned and resumed his Evangelistic ministry with his wife Donna.

Tim was asked to be the Missionary/Pastor and we have been so blessed and are loving it! We are two happy Assembly  of God Nationally Appointed Home Missionaries and our people are happy with us. We are growing.  We started out with 6 (five non Indian and one Native Roxanne Spotted Eagle Pictured here) Roxanne along with the Ruda family, Rudy, Janell and son Allen have been faithful to serve and minister at the Church.  Sunbeam Necklace has also been one who has held fast over the years.  She and Brenda Weller have faithfully served dinner for the soup kitchen for years, which we have begun again on Wednesday nights. What a blessing to see men, women and children come to the Lord and have such an appetite to learn more of Jesus. Life is good.  We had what was to be an ''advisory board'' meeting a few weeks ago during our weekly Sunday lunch following service & everyone participated.  Well, during that meeting the folk voted on a new name for the church, giving it more of an ''identity'' in the community.  It is now known as "All Tribes Fellowship Assembly of God".  We're working on art work and a new sign.  We look forward to the day of our Rededication of the facility and our family together.

We have had the building next door to the parsonage leased the past 3 years; but as of now the lease is up and the building is free. It is our prayer the Lord will send us a Youth/Children's pastor and we can develop the property into a "youth center". Pray as we seek God's will in this matter. We have a lot of cleaning up and refreshing to do in and out of the property. We can always use extra hands for these kind of jobs. So if the Lord leads you, give us a shout and come on out.

We are thankful for all the blessings God has brought about over the years the ministry has been here on the Yankton Sioux. We give God all the praise for the leadership He has provided. We look forward the future God has for this ministry and the leadership. There is so much pain and suffering all around us and the needs are great. Please continue to pray for they great people of the Yankton Sioux Tribe as God moves throughout the land.

Sincerely,

Tim and Elaine
